CUSHIONS AND QUILTS One of our hand or machine applique designs, these quilt wall hangings are stitched by machine, or hand using blanket stitch. To use these easy applique designs, choose two contrasting colours, and make the central square once, then reverse the colours and make it again. Use mix and match prints or plains. Add your borders, and finish off to make two stylish matching cushion covers. Or make more and complete a full size quilt, with the same design. Cushion cover finished size: 50cm x 50cm, Full quilt size: 190 x 245 cm Click on any picture to view an enlargement with more detail..
We pride ourselves on providing colourful original designs, that are fun to do. These fusible applique patterns used fusible webbing sometimes called Vliesofix, or bonding web to fuse the separate pieces of fabric to the background. They are then machine appliqued or sewn by hand using embroidery stitches like blanket stitch or button hole stitch. Using basic patchwork for the background and borders, the quilts and cushion covers are then appliqued and quilted. For beginners we have a how to applique section in our website. Click on this link to take you to a fusible applique tutorial, where you can learn to do blanket stitch, and sewing appliques by machine, along with beginner quilting. "How to Applique" |
